Keana Salt Village

Keana alt villageThe Keana Salt Village is located in the headquarters of the Keana Local Government Area, some 67 kilometres away from Lafia, the state capital.

The Keana salt mining industry itself dates back to the 12th Century when the salt discovered attracted human settlement in the area. This is where to see local technology and improvisation in operation. A visit to the area reveals the fact that the industry is made up of huts with large pots and ridges laid out for mining salt. Each of these huts belong to an individual whose acquisition or ownership is by inheritance
